I went on this mission quite reluctantly, finding it difficult to leave my husband and daughter behind and going on a trip without any of my friends.
God absolutely blew me away! There are so many testimonies and so many miracles that I witnessed on this trip, its hard to narrow it down to a few.
In Matthew 10 Jesus commands his disciples to heal the sick, cast out demons and raise the dead. That is what happened on this trip.
On the Monday morning, we were standing on top of a mountain, overlooking a small village in the valley, and as we were praying for the church and the people, two men came up the side of the mountain on horses, and one had a lady tied on top of the horse.
As soon as I saw them, I felt a darkness and an urgency in my spirit, and as we approached them, the interpreter asked them what was going on. The old lady had collapsed in her house, and they were taking her to the top of the mountain to meet the taxi that would take her to the hospital.
As I looked at her face for the first time, my initial thought was: Why in all heaven and earth would they tie a corpse to a horse?! (Background: I am a registered nurse, with ICU experience, so I have seen my share of dead people). There was just this “death tinge” to this lady, and the one side of her face was slack as if she had had a stroke.
They placed her on the ground and she was not moving. As a team, we then started to pray for her, and I could just feel the words flow from my mouth in prayer. GOD WAS THERE! We prayed in the Spirit and with authority, and the lady started to wake up. By the time we placed her in the taxi, she was lifting the hand on the side that was supposed to be paralyzed.
We prayed for her, and she was raised from the dead.
God also used this trip to confirm my calling over and over again. We went to the hospital twice, and both times I had the opportunity to pray for pregnant moms. As I laid my hands on each of them, and started to pray, the baby would kick against my hands. God also used the other ladies that went on the trip with me to confirm that my ministry will be with women and babies, as they prayed over me and spoke into my life.
God gave me a new confidence and courage to speak in front of people, that I have never had before. This trip pushed me so far out of comfort zone that I had forgotten what it looked like! God is so much bigger than I could ever imagine, and when we go to people who have absolutely nothing, He is free to reveal himself in ways that we never think is possible in our comfortable, western life.
